Hampton University has named Alfred S. Chandler Jr. its new chief of police. A veteran leader with more than 24 years in law enforcement and former chief of the Suffolk Police Department, he brings a focus on trust, training, and community-centered policing to HUPD.
The Hampton University Police Department is a professional, full-service organization providing comprehensive law enforcement and security services to every part of the University, including services unique to an academic institution.
Our state-certified officers hold full arrest powers and train at the Hampton Roads Regional Academy of Criminal Justice. We work alongside local, state, and federal agencies to investigate crime and coordinate special events, and we count on students, faculty, and staff to tell us when something doesn’t look right.
